so i'm working five days this week, standard for some but a pretty huge deal for me. i'm completely worn out, exhausted and sick... i just finished my second day. oh and the only two days i have off will be spent doing an exam and studying, although perhaps not in that order.

i went on a picnic with my boyfriend on friday (the last interesting thing i did), it was lovely. soooooo much food. a bit too much nature but hey you get that. maybe a nice champagne lunch next time, in a deli/pattiserie. does that exist?

i made some heart-shaped cookies which were not only delicous but also perfectly shaped. save your praise, i know i'm amazing.

i got along well with my manager at work today, she didn't even ask me what i had for lunch in her casual yet concerned "are you eating?" kind of way.

i should try and get some sleep. seven hours of baby/children/maternity filled fun heading my way tomorrow.

so today is the melbourne cup, which is australia's biggest race day. and a pretty huge fashion deal for those who attend.

now i'm nowhere near a racewear expert, i've only been to the races once and to be perfectly honest i was more interested in the champagne than my outfit, i just chucked on whatever dress/headband combo took my fancy that morning.

fascinators are serious business but i just don't know if i could do a hat, i'm way more into headbands. although i did see a headband with a pillbox hat attached to it, best of both worlds or an unfortunate pairing?

now i don't have the money to put together a great races outfit, but what i do have is an abundance of time. i've been playing around on polyvore most of the morning putting together my dream race looks. here's a few i came up with.

safe to say i'm into bright colours, over the top shoes and bows. every look features a bow somehow. the second is probably the most race appropriate. surprisingly most of the things i ended up choosing weren't all that expensive, well the shoes were. a fair amount of it was from topshop and forever21, why can't i live in america and/or england?

in other racing news, word on the internet is that today is the end of america's "race race." i wonder if more people will vote than they did for the last american idol. i'm sort of, not really, but a tiny bit interested in the results.

infomercials; we all know any and all "too good to be true" claims should be taken with a grain of salt, or more.

but believe it or not (believe it), the ped egg actually works! essentially it's a piece of metal, similar to a grater lodged in a plastic shaped egg, hence the egg. the idea is that you grate dead skin off your feet, hence the ped. the dead skin shavings are then conveniently caught inside the egg to be thrown out at your discretion.

you can pick one of these babies up from ebay for about AU$9, including shipping. it takes a bit of elbow grease but there are definitely results.

despite how amazingly interesting this post is, i didn't do much today. watched a lot of tv, ate a lot of chocolate, went into town for a couple of hours to pick up a swimsuit and hold my boyfriends hand.

it's been exactly a month since my last post and i'd just like to preface with a follow up.

admittedly that photo was taken a few weeks ago and the current state of my room is somewhere between the two extremes. almost time for another (monthly?) clean.

another thing i like to do every few months is raid my mother's wardrobe. you never know what you'll find.

whether it be a new bag.

a new top.

or new shoes.

i'm actually back in the swing of things. job hunting. tidying. shopping. studying. general self-improving. smiling.

my boyfriend and i have proclaimed our love and spend a ridiculous amount of time lying around staring into each others eyes. it's kind of pathetic.

Thursday, 2 October 2008

okay, so i've started my wardrobe overhaul. there's literally no room in my wardrobes and with the new season coming up i think it's time to make some. it looks absolutely disastrous right now but hey it always gets better before it gets worse. i have bits and pieces of the next three/four days to work on it before my boyfriend gets home and says "hah! i told you nothing would be cleaner when i got back." which won't be happening.

so that's where we're at right now. yes, yes, i know. here's my plan.

Day One
Organize
1. Divide clothes into the following piles
- things i wear
- things i might wear
- things i don't wear, but want to keep
- things i don't wear, but somebody else might
- things nobody would wear
- "going out" dresses (not worn often, they can find a new home)
2. Get everything other than "Things I Wear/Might Wear" out of my room
3. Divide things i wear into two more piles - clean/dirty.

Day Two
Tidy
1. Start washing the dirty pile (will probably be like 923083 loads)
2. Put away the clean pile
3. Make decisions re: things i might wear
4. Tidy the rest of my room (it's mainly clean, just clothes)

Day Three
Clean
1. Mop floor
2. Clean "kitchen"
3. Clean bathroom
4. Wash Sheets/Towels

Day Four
Finishing Touches
1. Fresh sheets
2. Flowers
3. Scented oils
4. "A place for everything, everything in it's place."

I have to work today and I'm hanging out with Andi tomorrow but I have all of saturday free (cleaning day, fun fun). Then my boyf gets home sunday afternoon, I'll probably go to his house for the night but at least I'll be leaving everything nice and clean.

pinch and a punch for the first day of the month!
(white rabbit)

okay today was my big cleaning day, and it's 1pm already and i've done zilch.

i woke up early, enjoyed my breakfast in the sun...

now cleaning for me used to be (and still is) a bit of an adventure, an act. it takes a little while to get in character.

first, there's costume. i used to wear my "cleaning dress" and a string of pearls, to get in the housewife kind of vibe of things. i put it on this morning (sans pearls, did you take them all away with you?) and something just didn't feel right.

then it clicked. i wasn't dressing up anymore, cleaning isn't some kind of game that i play when it takes my fancy. i actually have to clean. so i thought, what i need is a new cleaning dress. it still needs to have a traditional shape and make me feel all homely, but it needs to be my own take on what kind of housewife i plan on being. oh and it needs to be as uncomfortable to sit down in as possible.

introducing my new housewife dress. i wanted to make myself a martini to celebrate but then realized i probably want to drive later, damn P plates. cranberry juice in a martini glass will have to do.

so that's that for costumer, now i just need music... female jazz singers. maybe a bit of herbal tea and a lot of motivation.

more importantly, i have three more whole days without my boyfriend. he called me last night and casually threw into conversation "oh i nearly broke my neck today." he escaped with some stitches in his chin but god, i'm so glad i didn't see it, how scary. he better play safe today.

Tuesday, 30 September 2008

what an uneventful day. i woke up at ten to six, i have no idea why but i didn't go back to sleep. i went to the gym.

then went off to stafford to buy some groceries for waffles that i'll be cooking with ange tomorrow. deliciousness awaits.

i popped in to big w to see if i could pick up some shirts for the gym and came out with some shoes. i got these for fourteen dollars. seriously, what a bargain. they don't look too cheap, i think.

i'm pretty into wedges at the moment. i actually have absolutely nothing to report. it wasn't sunny enough to tan, i found out my portfolio isn't due for another two weeks so i'm a bit more chilled out on that one.

i have no idea what i'll do tomorrow, i should clean up. theo doubts me when i say the house will be spotless when he gets home. i'm up for the challenge.
