so i'm working five days this week, standard for some but a pretty huge deal for me. i'm completely worn out, exhausted and sick... i just finished my second day. oh and the only two days i have off will be spent doing an exam and studying, although perhaps not in that order.

i went on a picnic with my boyfriend on friday (the last interesting thing i did), it was lovely. soooooo much food. a bit too much nature but hey you get that. maybe a nice champagne lunch next time, in a deli/pattiserie. does that exist?

i made some heart-shaped cookies which were not only delicous but also perfectly shaped. save your praise, i know i'm amazing.

i got along well with my manager at work today, she didn't even ask me what i had for lunch in her casual yet concerned "are you eating?" kind of way.

i should try and get some sleep. seven hours of baby/children/maternity filled fun heading my way tomorrow.

so today is the melbourne cup, which is australia's biggest race day. and a pretty huge fashion deal for those who attend.

now i'm nowhere near a racewear expert, i've only been to the races once and to be perfectly honest i was more interested in the champagne than my outfit, i just chucked on whatever dress/headband combo took my fancy that morning.

fascinators are serious business but i just don't know if i could do a hat, i'm way more into headbands. although i did see a headband with a pillbox hat attached to it, best of both worlds or an unfortunate pairing?

now i don't have the money to put together a great races outfit, but what i do have is an abundance of time. i've been playing around on polyvore most of the morning putting together my dream race looks. here's a few i came up with.

safe to say i'm into bright colours, over the top shoes and bows. every look features a bow somehow. the second is probably the most race appropriate. surprisingly most of the things i ended up choosing weren't all that expensive, well the shoes were. a fair amount of it was from topshop and forever21, why can't i live in america and/or england?

in other racing news, word on the internet is that today is the end of america's "race race." i wonder if more people will vote than they did for the last american idol. i'm sort of, not really, but a tiny bit interested in the results.

infomercials; we all know any and all "too good to be true" claims should be taken with a grain of salt, or more.

but believe it or not (believe it), the ped egg actually works! essentially it's a piece of metal, similar to a grater lodged in a plastic shaped egg, hence the egg. the idea is that you grate dead skin off your feet, hence the ped. the dead skin shavings are then conveniently caught inside the egg to be thrown out at your discretion.

you can pick one of these babies up from ebay for about AU$9, including shipping. it takes a bit of elbow grease but there are definitely results.

despite how amazingly interesting this post is, i didn't do much today. watched a lot of tv, ate a lot of chocolate, went into town for a couple of hours to pick up a swimsuit and hold my boyfriends hand.

it's been exactly a month since my last post and i'd just like to preface with a follow up.

admittedly that photo was taken a few weeks ago and the current state of my room is somewhere between the two extremes. almost time for another (monthly?) clean.

another thing i like to do every few months is raid my mother's wardrobe. you never know what you'll find.

whether it be a new bag.

a new top.

or new shoes.

i'm actually back in the swing of things. job hunting. tidying. shopping. studying. general self-improving. smiling.

my boyfriend and i have proclaimed our love and spend a ridiculous amount of time lying around staring into each others eyes. it's kind of pathetic.
