now i'm nowhere near a racewear expert, i've only been to the races once and to be perfectly honest i was more interested in the champagne than my outfit, i just chucked on whatever dress/headband combo took my fancy that morning.
fascinators are serious business but i just don't know if i could do a hat, i'm way more into headbands. although i did see a headband with a pillbox hat attached to it, best of both worlds or an unfortunate pairing?
now i don't have the money to put together a great races outfit, but what i do have is an abundance of time. i've been playing around on polyvore most of the morning putting together my dream race looks. here's a few i came up with.

safe to say i'm into bright colours, over the top shoes and bows. every look features a bow somehow. the second is probably the most race appropriate. surprisingly most of the things i ended up choosing weren't all that expensive, well the shoes were. a fair amount of it was from topshop and forever21, why can't i live in america and/or england?
in other racing news, word on the internet is that today is the end of america's "race race." i wonder if more people will vote than they did for the last american idol. i'm sort of, not really, but a tiny bit interested in the results.

i like the top one - it's sort of red riding hood meets amy winehouse. which reminds me, i'm wearing eye make-up again. i decided the older i get, the more i need it. you know how old people's eyes go all ugly? i didn't wear it for a while cos when i met yr dad i was wearing lots of it and very black (punk style) and dad said it was too scary. so i toned it down for a few years then it faded out. but the problem is, the older i get, the more i need it, but the more blind i get and the harder it is to put on. i'd hate to be one of those really old ladies that has lipstick all around her mouth and eyeshadow in her eyebrows cos she can't see or shakes too much. anyway, i'm not that bad yet. my routine involves a good quality dark brown eyeliner pencil (freshly sharpened),a magnifying mirror, a normal mirror, an overhead light and my reading glasses. I have to tip my glasses up one side at a time, and squeeze the pencil under the lifted lens while looking through the other one at what i'm doing. this is REALLY hard because you kind of have to stretch the eyelid to get a straight line and i haven't got enough fingers. i should pretend that position of my fingers is a gang sign and i could practice flipping my sign all day and get good at getting my eyeliner on. if you ever have to put me in an old people's home PLEASE make sure they do make-up daily - i'm going to really need it then.
how can you NOT be interested in the election?
it has the potential to be as history-defining as the civil rights movement.
and it will definitely define the ease with which you can buy your next (and future) pair of shoes.
OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA!
i have the first dress! but in red. therefore, i approve.
